The IMSAI 8080 was the infamous clone of the original homebrew micro computer to use the Intel 8080 CPU, the Altair 8800. Though in many ways the IMSAI 8080 was a significant improvement on the Altair though with far better build quality and component use.

It is most fondly remembered from the movie WarGames which is where most people would recognise its red and blue toggle switches from. This particular unit most recently came from Singapore where after traveling in several places around SE Asia from its previous owner. It requires a 110v power source to operate, countries such as Australia will require a 240V to 110V step down transformer. The computer does power on, we have been able toggle through examining the addresses and also loading the popular Chase the lights program through keying it in on the front panel which was successful. No further testing has been performed and no guarantee is given to the funtionality of any components with this computer.

It has several cards installed which give a full compliment to run the machine in several configurations. IMSAI MPU-A CPU Card with AMD 8080 White ceramic CPU. Dynabyte 16K Dynamic RAM (this actually appears to be a clone of the original board). Seals Electronics 8K Static RAM Board This board can actually be modded to be battery backed up! Interface Co Ltd ROM-100 EEPROM Board with 16K ROM. A very cool home made floppy disk controller.

IMSAI MIO Card which gives everything you could want with peripherals, 1x Serial, 2x Parallel, ROM and Cassette interface. The condition of the comptuer is reasonable for its age. There are marks and scratches on the power coated casing. All of the original paddles and power switch rocker cover has been replaced with new old stock paddes and covers.

This was done as a few of the original were missing and damaged. All of the original switch mechanisms are still used. This is a 41 year old computer and though we do our best to preserve these machines they do need to be looked after and regularly maintained. Sale is for the computer only, no other accessories are inlcuded other than the cards specified.
